Happy August! Welcome to the eighth wonder of the, erm, year. Just kidding. This month we have a ton of stuff to be JAZZED about! There's National Ice Cream Sandwich Day, Book Lover's DayBad Poetry Day, and National Waffle Day just to name a few. Read on to see everything we're celebrating this month.

Two exhilarating month long celebrations this month: Admit You're Happy Month and National Eye Exam Month. YOU CAN TELL US YOU'RE HAPPY, WE SWEAR! You'll also be happy if you get an eye exam. Being able to see + knowing you have healthy eyeballs = nothing bit good feels.

August begins with Spider-Man Day (August 1). I'm not saying I'm Spider Man, I'm just saying that me and Spider Man have never been seen at the same crime scene at the same time. *pensive emoji*. Next up we have National Ice Cream Sandwich Day (August 2) and National Clown Week (August 2-9). Iiiiiice cream and clowns. Sounds like a poppin off childhood party if you ask us. AS LONG AS THERE'S A MOON BOUNCE. On the fourth, we celebrate Dom Perignon Invents Champagne. Give us some bubbly! The fourth is also International Beer Day, Backgammon Day, and National Farmer's Market Week (August 4-10). Grab a beer, play that game no one else knows how to play, and get some local veggies and meat! National Disc Golf Day and National Mustard Day are next (August 5) and MAN do we have a hankering for a pretzel and some mustard. Or better yet, a game of disc golf in Schenley Park with mustard hot dog and pretzel snacks. This week finishes up with Root Beer Float Day (August 6). Nothin beats the hot weather better than a root beer float. Unless you're counting air conditioning, but COME ON.

Birthdays this week:
The Joker and Herman Melville (August 1)
Kevin Smith (August 2)
Andy Warhol and Piers Anthony (August 6)
Sidney Crosby (August 7)

Okay, this is one of our favorite holidays of the month. Because if you're growing some zucchini, you're probably swimming in it at this point. August 8 is Sneak Some Zucchini onto your neighbor's porch Night. Go on. You won't. But please do. August 9 is Book Lover's Day! And boy do we love books! August is the height of summer reading! <3 Next up, roast some marshmallows, get that chocolate and those graham crackers, and put on your fave Duran Duran album, because it's National Duran Duran Appreciation Day and S'Mores Day (August 10). The 10th is also BikeFest (August 10-27)! August 11 is the National Hobo Convention (August 11-13), followed by Vinyl Record Day (August 12). Get your buns dahn to your local record store! August 13 is National Prosecco Day and International Lefthanders Day (August 13). Bet you can't drink prosecco with your left hand. Just kidding, you probably can. It sounded way cooler in our heads. This week ends with Weird Contest Week (August 14-18). What's the weirdest contest you've ever entered? Hopefully it wasn't KU BOOK BINGO!  Which there's still time to enter, BTDUBS.

Birthdays this week:
Ginny Weasley (August 11)
William Goldman (August 12)
Alfred Hitchcock (August 13)
Steve Martin (August 14)

August 15 is Relaxation Day, and Frankie says RELAX. Little Italy Days in Bloomfield are August 17-20, and you know what that means: one billion delicious food options on the street over in Bloomfield. We can smell the cannolis now. Bad Poetry Day is August 18, and we just want you to know what roses are red, violets are blue, jizz trees smell, and your cat will bite you.

Birthdays this week:
Lois Lane (August 17)
Gene Roddenberry, Ogden Nash, and Mr. Snuffleupagus (August 19)
H.P. Lovecraft (August 20)
Christopher Robin Milne (August 21)

This week starts with a BANG! We've got Pluto Demoted Day, Vesuvius Day, and National Waffle Day (August 24). Maybe you can eat waffles on Mt. Vesuvius and cry about how you miss Pluto? August 28 is Go Topless Day and can be interpreted as taking the top off of your Jeep, of taking the top off of yourself. We don't discriminate. August 29 is More Herbs, Less Salt Day, so get out your parsley, sage, rosemary, and thymeeeeeee. Last but not least, we have Toasted Marshmallow Day (August 30). Nothing says sticky fingers quite like a toasty marshmallow.

Birthdays this week:
Ray Bradbury and Dorothy Parker (August 22)
Gene Kelly (August 23)
Tim Burton and Sean Connery (August 25)
Pee Wee Herman and Ira Levin (August 27)

So, what do you think?
