E.B. White's full name is Elwyn Brooks! REMEMBER THAT FOR TRIVIA! You will impress all your friends!

E.B. White, poet, essayist, and renowned children's book author was born on July 11th, 1899.  He was the author of wonderful childrens books like Charlotte's Web, Stuart Little, and The Trumpet of the Swan, books that are still read today by many.  My favorite is Charlotte's Web. Everything about it is amazing, from Fern bravely saving Wilbur's life, to the fun descriptions of the county fair, to the true, lovely friendship between Wilbur and Charlotte. And he somehow managed to make the idea of countless baby spiders floating in the breeze adorable and heartbreaking.

Let's just not talk about Charlotte's baby spiders at the end, ok!? *sob*

Additionally, E.B. White contributed to the New Yorker for six decades, wrote a well regarded grammar and style guide  book called The Elements of Style, as well as a couple of books with interesting titles, the marriage/relationship/ love comedy Is Sex Necessary? Or, Why You Feel the Way You Do, and a collection of essays entitles One Man's Meat.

Here's a fun fact(!): The Elements of Style is a bit controversial, some still swear by it while others find it kind of random with more outdated  "style" rules than solid grammar rules. Maybe to celebrate E.B. White's Birthday, you should debate antiquated grammar rules with your loved ones. What's that you say? That sounds like a terrible idea? And my fun fact wasn't that fun? Well. Fine. You can just celebrate by rereading on of your favs.

That's more like it!
