June 2019 Events!

Welcome June! Summer is just days away! We have plenty of fun things to tell you about, like National Moonshine Day, Corn on the Cob Day and International Sushi Day! To find out when to plan your parties, keep reading!

Pride month is here again! It’s our second favorite time of the year! (The first is Christmas, obviously.) But let’s not limit ourselves here. June is also National Camping Month, National Iced Tea Month, and National Steakhouse Month!

June is full of fun holidays, starting off on the right foot with National Go Barefoot Day. (lololol see what I did there?) Drive-In Movie Day is on 6/6. Donut Day AND National Moonshine Day are on 6/7! It’s also the kick-off of the Three River Arts Festival, which will continue through 6/16.

6/8 is World Gin Day and Best Friends Day. Profess Your Love Day is on 6/9. (We have some VERY cute/handsome cards and stationary. Everyone loves a good love letter.)

On Sunday, the 9th, we’ll see you downtown for the Pride March.

June's first week is brimming with birthdays, including Oscar the Grouch on 6/1; Justin Long, Zachary Quinto, and Dana Carvey on 6/2; Richard Scarry and Draco Malfoy on 6/5; Prince on 6/7;  Frank Lloyd Wright on 6/8; and Natalie Portman on 6/9!

National Herbs and Spices Day kicks off the second week of June on the 10th. It’s also Where the Wild Things Are Day! Corn on the Cob Day is 6/11. The 12th is National Magic Day and Spoonful of Sugar Day. Next up is International Axe Throwing Day on 6/13, National Strawberry Shortcake Day and National Bourbon day on 6/14; National Kiss a Wookie Day on 6/15; and the 16th is National Flip-flop Day, Bloomsday, Fudge Day and Father’s Day!

Need a dad day card? We have one billion.

Birthdays this week include the likes Maurice Sendak on 6/10; Gene Wilder and Jacques Cousteau on 6/11; Marty McFly on 6/12; and W.B. Yeats and Dorothy Sayers on 6/13; and Neil Patrick Harris on 6/15.

World Juggling Day starts off the next week on 6/17. It’s followed by International Sushi Day on 6/18,  Juneteenth on 6/19 and National Vanilla Milkshake Day and American Eagle Day on 6/20. Up next is a c-c-c-c-combooooooo day: the 21st is the Summer Solstice (i.e. the first day of summer!!!), World Giraffe Day, Go Skateboarding Day, the release of Toy Story 4 AND Take Your Dog to Work Day!

Birthdays this week include  Chris van Allsburg on 6/18; Zoe Saldana on 6/19; Edward Cullen on 6/20; and Chris Pratt on 6/21.

The following week starts continues the party with International Fairy Day on 6/24; National Chocolate Pudding Day and Tropical Cocktails Day on 6/26; National Paul Bunyan Day on 6/28; and Bartender and Mixologist Day on 6/29! The 29th is also the Pittsburgh celebration of Juneteenth.

Join us for KU book club on the 30th at 6:30pm! We'll be discussing Still Life with Woodpecker by Tom Robbins.
