March 2019 Events

Talk about IN LIKE A LION! February wasn't even over yet when March's roar came whippin' all of the power lines down! But it's cool, we survived so far, and that's good because there's a bunch of stuff happening this month: It's Women's History Month, and then there's Mardi Gras (March 5), Captain Marvel hits theaters (March 8), Pi Day(...do I really have to tell you? FINE March 14), Won't You Be My Neighbor Day(March 20), National Chip and Dip Day(March 23)... and that's not even including birthdays! Remus Lupin(March 10), RBG(March 15) and Lady Gaga(March 29) are just some of the birthdays we're celebrating this month! Want more? Keep Reading!!!

Are. You. READDDDDYYYYYYY? It's all happening this month. Well. Like, the normal March things are happening this month with a few bonus things. But I'm going to bet you 5 bitcoins that, if this is your first year celebrating weirdo holidays with Kards, there's going to be at least one fun holiday on here that you've never heard of. So let's go!

Imma reiterate that it's Women's History Month. We'll be featuring lots of Bad Ass Babes on our instagram this month, so give us a follow! (->link on side bar!)

First, it's National Pig Day (March 1)! No, it's not a day for eating the pig. It's a day for petting the pig. And like celebrating how smart it is, apparently? This is a very popular holiday.... somewhere.

Next up, National Mulled Wine Day (March 3). Which is a really great beverage to drink while watching American Gods if you don't get to it the same day it drops!! Lollolol we obsessed yo.

Birthdays during this first little half-week of March include Aragorn (March 1), Dr. Seuss, John Irving, and Rebel Wilson (March 2) and George Michael Bluth (March 3).

On to the first full week of March: We start off with Grammar Day (March 4) and then we're just rolling right into Mardi Gras. Also known as Fat Tuesday. and also Paczki Day (March 5). Interestingly, this day of excess also falls on National Absinthe Day this year, so this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live it up REAL REAL HARD. Fat Tuesday pancakes with Absinthe syrup? yum.

Then there's National Oreo Day, Unique Names Day and the Day of the Dude (March 6). I know that at least two of those mix nicely: imagine dunking your Oreos into a nice tall glass of White Russian. Except that it's also Ash Wednesday and you probably gave up like chocolate or something for Lent......... good thing I'm not Catholic, yo. Imma be doing that Oreo thang.

It's International Women's Day on March 8th and (they probably planned this?) also the release day for Captain Marvel!!! Hit up those theaters, yo!!! We'll see you there.

Next up is International Fanny Pack Day, National Meatball Day, and Get Over it Day (all March 9), International Day of Awesomeness, International Bagpipe Day, Mario Day, Middle Name Pride Day, National Pack Your Lunch Day and... ... dun dun dunnnnn the start of Daylight Savings (all March 10).

Only one birthday this week: Remus Lupin on March 10th.

Then celebrate National Napping Day (March 11), followed by Smart & Sexy Day (March 13), Celebrate Scientists Day, National Potato Chip Day, Pi Day and Popcorn Day (all March 14).

March 15th is the notorious Ides of March followed by St. Patricks Day on the 17th!

Birthdays this week include: Douglas Adams (March 11), Homer Simpson (March 12), Albert Einstein and Billy Crystal (both March 14), Ruth Bader Ginsburg (March 15), Alan Tudyk and Kevin Smith (both March 16).

The third week of March starts off strong with Awkward Moments day (March 18). And then we have Extraterrestrial Abductions Day, Won't You Be My Neighbor Day, World Storytelling Day and the first day of Spring (March 20)!

Then we have International Day of Forests and World Poetry Day (March 21). Sounds like a great day for cuddling up under your favorite tree and catching up on Rumi. ....It's also World Puppetry Day, so watch out for stray puppets I guess. ...Pack scissors?

On the 22nd, Kevin Kwan, the author of Crazy Rich Asians, will be in Pittsburgh. Speaking of books that were made into movies, Where'd You Go Bernadette will be released in theaters the same day. We have plenty of both books in stock if you need to read up beforehand!

Then we have National Chip and Dip Day and National Puppy Day (March 23)!

Birthdays this week include Lois Lowry (March 20), James T. Kirk, and Wonder Woman (both March 22).

The last week of March has some gems in it. Like Tolkien Reading Day (March 25) and National Children's Picture book Day (March 28).

It also holds Make Up Your Own Holiday Day (March 26) (Someone should tell the kid who made up Wolfenoot, we're ready for another gem!!), and National Respect Your Cat Day (March 28). The new version of Dumbo hits the theaters on March 29th and the 30th is National Pencil Day.

Birthdays this week include Nathan Fillion (March 27), Lady Gaga (March 29) and Christopher Walken (March 31).

That's it for March! See you next month, folks!

So, what do you think?
