Oh, September.  You are the best month.  (I mean, I would think that.  My birthday and my wife's are both in September, plus there are a million other great things happening this month!) It may still be stupid hot a lot of the time, but the first few breaths of autumn are coming, and it's almost time for the mooooooost wonderful tiiiiiiiiiiiime of the yeeeeeeeear! (We love Christmas.) Click READ MORE to find out what's going on this month!

Get it grrrrrrrrrl.

September is Bourbon Heritage Month! Yum bourbon! It's also Children's Good Manners Month, Library Card Sign-Up Month, National Honey Month (yay bees!), Shameless Promotion Month (yay KU!), and Pleasure Your Mate Month (yay Os!)!  All these celebrations sound amazing, so use your September wisely!

There should probably be a day every month on which we celebrate Karen Gillan. In September it's International Redheads Day!

We'll kick September off with National Beheading Day (9/2); then there's Skyscraper Day, Labor Day, and the first day of International Enthusiasm Week (9/3-9/9) (9/3); then we'll celebrate Eat an Extra Dessert Day and BeyDay (Beyonce's birthday) (9/4); Be Late for Something Day (9/5); National Beer Lover's Day, International Redheads Day, Salami Day, and National Buy a Book Day (9/7); Star Trek Day (9/8); and Wonderful Weirdos Day (9/9)!

The internet may well be causing the downfall of society as we know it, but it's worth it for the Beyonce gifs, you guys. It's 100% worth it.

September birthdays start off with Beyoooooonceeeeeeeeeeee! (9/4, as above.) Then there's the man himself Jack Daniels and Werner Herzog (9/5) and Leo Tolstoy (9/9)!

Roald Dahl was awesome, guys. Creepy. But awesome.

Next we'll celebrate Swap Ideas Day and "I'm on Top of It" Day (9/10); and Roald Dahl Day (9/13)!

I mean. Makes sense.

The second week of September might be a bit light on holidays, but what it lacks in holidays, it makes up in birthdays, starting with yours, truly (9/11); Bella Swan/Cullen and Roald Dahl (9/13, hence the holiday); Sophie Dahl, Montgomery Burns, and Agatha Christie (9/15); and H.A. Rey (9/16)!

I'm Frodo Baggins and I approve this message!

THEN IT'S TOLKIEN WEEK YOU GUYS! (9/17-9/23)! Aka the second most wonderful time of the year!  Also in the third week of September is Hug a Greeting Card Writer Day (9/18); Talk Like a Pirate Day (9/19); the Autumnal Equinox, Dear Diary Day, and Hobbit Day (9/22); and Celebrate Bisexuality Day (9/23)!

Happy birthday, Cap'n Tightpants.

September should just be renamed birthday month, because it is crazy up in here.  Third week of September birthdays include William Golding, Hermione Granger, and Arthur Rackham (9/19); George R.R. Martin and Malcolm Reynolds (9/20); Bill  Murray, Stephen King, and H.G. Wells (9/21); and finally both Bilbo AND Frodo Baggins (9/22)!

In celebration of National Dog Week, here's a picture of the cutest dog in the entire h*ckin' world. Look at her little frickin' face!

Um, here's the thing, you guys.  Remember how Tolkien Week was the second most wonderful time of the year?  Well that may have been premature, because the last week of September is h*cking NATIONAL DOG WEEK!  WE LOVE DOGS AND ALSO CAPITAL LETTERS! It's also Banned Books Week, which is great! (9/24-9/30)  Also in the last week of September we'll celebrate Punctuation Day (9/24); National One Hit Wonder Day (9/25); Ask A Stupid Question Day and Love Note Day and also Little Women will be released in theatres (9/28); National Coffee Day (9/29); and Blasphemy Day (9/30)!

I think a lot of us don't realize how much we miss Shel Silverstein.

Finally, the last week of September will feature the following birthdays: Arthur Guinness, Jim Henson, and F. Scott Fitzgerald (9/24); Mark Hamill and Shel Silverstein (9/25); Johnny Appleseed (9/26); T.S. Eliot and Scott Pilgrim (9/27); and Truman Capote (9/30)!
