To all my fellow nerds out there, Happy Pi Day!!

Today marks the celebration of pi (3.141592653)!  Yay, pi!!!  Some people might be asking why pi has its own holiday?  Well, pie appears in mathematical formulas all over the place.  You can find it woven into the fabric of the Universe or in the shape of an actual pie. One physicist decided that its so special it deserves its own holiday and we agree!!

Our famous scientists finger puppets-many of the research conducted by this crew would not have been possible without Pi.

Pi Day serves as an awesome day to make numerous math and food related puns!  Impress your friends by trying to say as many puns as possible or show off your math knowledge by reciting the number of digits of Pi you know.

Pi Day Fun Fact:  Pi Day officially starts at 1:59 PM on March 14th.  The combined date and time results in 3.14159.

March 14th is known as the birthday of Albert Einstein (physics god).  Einstein is known for his influential work on relativity and his famous equation, E=mc2. In 1921, Einstein was awarded the Nobel Prize in physics in recognition for his work in the sciences.  Einstein was a passionate music lover and once said “If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician.  I often think in music.”

PI Day

Celebrate Einstein’s birthday by purchasing our collection of Einstein merchandise.  Try purchasing our Einstein inspired mug so you can ponder physics every morning.  Then purchase our punny mints to freshen your breath in a nerdy way!

Math not your thing?  No worries!  Celebrate Pi Day by creating a scrumptious pie treat?   While making the pie, pay close attention to the geometry of the dessert. At Kards Unlimited, we sell a variety of cookbooks with fantastic pie recipes.  I will be creating a pie today and detailing my journey in this week’s special edition of Baking with Kards!  Also, pick up KU’s Pi Day themed card to send to all of your nerdy/pie enthusiastic friends!

Mathematics is a wonderful tool that helps us explore the physical world around us.  I invite you to reflect on all objects circular and the number Pi today.  Or you can just send this awesome Pi Day Pun meme to all of your friends.
