A Bayberry candle on New Year's Eve brings good luck!

Happy New Year from your friends at Kards Unlimited!  We're kicking off the year in true KU form, so without further ado, here's a list of the events of the coming month!

Do we think Hangover Day and Bloody Mary Day are related? Yes. Yes we do.

In addition to New Year's Day, the first day of the year marks National Hangover Day, Bloody Mary Day, and Polar Bear Plunge Day! The first week of the year will also include National Motivation and Inspiration Day and National Science Fiction Day (1/2), Festival of Sleep Day (yes please!) and Fruitcake Toss Day (1/3), National Spaghetti Day and National Trivia Day (1/4), Twelfth Night (1/5), and the No Pants Subway Ride (1/7)!

Don't forget to toast "The Professor"!

Birthdays in the first week of the year include J.D. Salinger (1/1), Isaac Asimov (1/2), J.R.R. Tolkien (1/3), everyone's favorite high-functioning sociopath Sherlock Holmes (1/6), and creator of The Addams Family, Charles Addams (1/7)!

No idea what this is from, but ginger kisses are cute, so let's do this thing.

January's second week is full of fun-filled days like National English Toffee Day and Bubble Bath Day (1/8); Word Nerd Day (1/9); Peculiar People Day (1/10); National Hot Toddy Day, Learn Your Name in Morse Code Day, and Secret Pal Day (1/11); National Hot Tea Day and International Kiss a Ginger Day (1/12); Rubber Ducky Day and Public Radio Broadcasting Day (1/13); and Dress Up Your Pet Day and Organize Your Home Day (1/14)!

For this one day, I'll take a break from thinking that Snape is the worst. Jk, I probably won't.

Birthdays in the depths of hibernation time that is January's second week include Stephen Hawking (1/8), Severus Snape (1/9), and awesome contemporary sci-fi/fantasy author Haruki Murakami (1/12)!

There are just way too many great dragons, you guys. Dragons are the best.

In the third week of January, we'll celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and National Fresh Squeezed Juice Day (1/15); National Fig Newton Day and Appreciate a Dragon Day (one of KU's very favorite days) (1/16); National Hot Buttered Rum Day (1/17); Winnie the Pooh Day and Thesaurus Day (1/18); Popcorn Day and International Fetish Day (1/19); Cheese Lovers' Day (1/20); and International Sweatpants Day, Squirrel Appreciation Day, and National Hug Day (1/21)!

Grammatical problems aside, this picture is flawless.

Third week o' the year birthdays include Winnie the Pooh creator A.A. Milne (1/18), Edgar Allan Poe and Buffy Summers (1/19), and Hannibal Lecter (1/20)!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssssssssssss

January will close out with National Hot Sauce Day and Answer Your Cat's Questions Day (1/22); National Rhubarb Day and National Handwriting Day (1/23); National Compliment Day (1/24); Opposite Day (1/25); National Peanut Brittle Day, Dungeons and Dragons Day, and International Fun at Work Day (1/26); National Seed Swap Day (1/27); National Blueberry Pancake Day (yummmmmmm) and National Kazoo Day (1/28); Puzzle Day, Curmudgeons Day, and Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day (1/29); and National Hot Dog Day, Brandy Alexander Day, and Hell is Freezing Over Day (1/31)!

Can we all just take a moment to thank Jason Momoa for existing in our plane? I think we should.

January's birthdays will come to a close with Lewis Carroll (1/27), Aquaman (1/29), and Lily Potter (arguably the best Potter) (1/30)!
