Magic Day is celebrated on October 31st, the anniversary of Harry Houdini’s death in 1926. Houdini was a master escape artist and his shows thrived on gimmickry and audience involvement. Even his death was dramatic and surrounded by mystery. He died of a ruptured appendix. This was potentially caused when he was repeatedly punched in the stomach before he was prepared.(one of his tricks being able to take any blow). Although he was also reportedly suffering from appendicitis and refused to seek medical attention. Either way, he was a magician to his death, taking his secrets with him.
