Stardust by Neil Gaiman
Harper Collins
Paperback
*Adam’s pick!*
You may notice that we have a bunch of books by a master of contemporary fantasy, Neil Gaiman. (Almost all of his books, actually.) We’re huge Neil Gaiman fans here at KU and all of us have our different favorites among his works. Picking a favorite Neil Gaiman book is, for me, a lot like picking a favorite ice cream flavor. They’re all great, and my favorite is usually the one I’m having at the time. I always end up going back to Black Raspberry, though. Stardust, the tale of a young man’s quest to win his true love, the tale of a wonderful, thrilling, surprising, confusing, amazing journey unlike any taken before or since, is my literary Black Raspberry ice cream. If this is your first time reading this book, prepare to lose yourself in the absolutely intoxicating world Gaiman creates for his characters and readers. If you’ve read this book before, same instruction.
Young Tristran Thorn will do anything to win the cold heart of beautiful Victoria—even fetch her the star they watch fall from the night sky. But to do so, he must enter the unexplored lands on the other side of the ancient wall that gives their tiny village its name. Beyond that old stone wall, Tristran learns, lies Faerie—where nothing not even a fallen star, is what he imagined.
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author Neil Gaiman comes a remarkable quest into the dark and miraculous—in pursuit of love and the utterly impossible.
